Privacy Policy

LevelDown is an offline-first iOS level and inclination tool. This page explains what stays on your device and what LevelDown does not collect.

Effective date August 17, 2026
Scope Applies to the LevelDown iOS app and this website

Privacy at a glance

On-device measurement Gravity, calibration values, and measurements are processed locally.
No account required The app does not ask you to register, sign in, or submit personal details.
No tracking There are no ads, analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how LevelDown handles information when you use the LevelDown iOS app or visit this privacy-policy website. LevelDown is designed to measure level, hanging-mount level, plumb, and surface inclination without an account or an internet connection.

This policy does not change the terms or privacy practices of Apple, the App Store, iOS, or any other service you may use independently of LevelDown.

2. Information LevelDown does not collect

LevelDown itself does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal information. The app does not send measurement data to a LevelDown server, and measurement does not require network access.

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers, accounts, contacts, or other identity details
  • Location, photos, videos, camera content, or microphone recordings
  • Core Motion gravity readings, other sensor readings, calibration offsets, or measurement results
  • Advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking identifiers, behavioral profiles, or analytics events

3. On-device processing and storage

The app uses the device's Core Motion gravity data to calculate angles locally. Calibration, filtering, state decisions, and locked-result snapshots are performed on the device.

Local app storage may contain your language choice, measurement and feedback preferences, calibration profiles including contact setup and offsets, onboarding status, and the most recent locked measurement. These values remain in the app's local storage and are not uploaded by LevelDown.

You can reset settings or calibration profiles in the app where those controls are available. Deleting the app removes its local data, subject to any iOS backup or device-management settings you control.

4. Sensors, permissions, and system features

LevelDown uses motion data for measurement, optional system speech and beeps for guidance, and the device torch as an optional low-intensity visual signal. Speech uses audio output; the app does not record through the microphone.

The app does not need camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or location access for its measuring features. LevelDown does not change the system screen brightness. It may temporarily prevent the screen from locking during an active measurement and restores that setting when the session ends or the app becomes inactive.

5. This website and service providers

This privacy-policy page is served as a static Cloudflare Worker. It has no cookies, advertising, analytics code, tracking pixels, forms, user accounts, or third-party scripts. The language selector only changes the page URL and does not store a preference.

Cloudflare may process standard technical request information as part of delivering and protecting the website. LevelDown does not use that infrastructure information to build app profiles, personalize advertising, or measure your use of the iOS app.

6. Sharing, retention, and deletion

Because LevelDown does not maintain a personal account or a measurement database, LevelDown has no app profile to disclose to advertisers, data brokers, or other companies. The app's local values remain until you change them, reset them, delete the app, or remove them through iOS device controls.

Apple may process information as the provider of iOS, the App Store, device backup, or related platform services. Those activities are governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policy, not by LevelDown.

7. Children's privacy

LevelDown does not require personal information from anyone and does not knowingly collect information from children. The same on-device, no-account design applies to every user.

8. Security and measurement limitations

Keeping measurement data on the device reduces the information that LevelDown has access to, but no device or storage system can be guaranteed absolutely secure. Use the passcode, encryption, backup, and device-management protections provided by your operating system.

LevelDown is an assisting measurement tool. A frozen result reflects the device, contact setup, calibration profile, and stability window used at that moment. It is not a building-code, installation, structural-safety, or professional certification.

9. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date. The policy in effect is the version shown here when you use LevelDown.
